About the Position
The Director is tasked with overseeing all aspects of US fundraising and will work closely with HHC’s Major Partnerships team and in coordination with the senior management team. As Director, you will establish the foundation for the expansion of US with a focus on our primary fundraising audience of ultra high net worth and high net worth individuals. You will shepherd the mission, vision and values of HHC in order to help support continued growth.
HHC is looking for someone who has a track record in building high-level, high-impact relationships and has a genuine passion and intellectual concern for the cause. Collaborate with the International Major Partnerships and Philanthropy team to develop and implement a five-year US fundraising plan to achieve budgeted goals from major donor, trust and corporate sources
Leverage HHC’s existing US network, connect, steward and build a portfolio of ultra-high net-worth prospects and recurring supporters, ensuring strong relationships. Identify new sources of revenue, particularly multi-year support
Lead the development and implementation of an 18-month plan to build a pipeline of prospective donors and raise an agreed-level of contributed revenue from US donors through individual cultivation, corporate partnerships and events
Work with HHC’s leadership to grow the US Board
Collaborate with International Major Partnerships and Philanthropy teams to ensure effective communication and reporting to US supporters and other partners
Build effective relationships with HHC’s Senior Management and Program Teams
Ensure effective record keeping and with the support of the UK team the establishment of appropriate administrative systems which capture key donor and financial information
Belief in and passion for HHC’s work and long-term vision is essential; knowledge of international development sector is a plus
At least seven years of fundraising experience with progressive responsibility; Bachelors’ degree
Demonstrated experience securing six- and seven-figure gifts from private sources
Experience developing and implementing a successful US fundraising strategy
Knowledge of the major donor fundraising environment within the US context as well as knowledge of ultra-high net-worth individuals
Agile self-starter, self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision; pragmatic and results oriented
Collaborative team player; strong time management skills and an ability to work on deadline
Strong leadership skills; strong relationship management skills; interpersonal skills including the confidence to network, persuade and negotiate effectively at senior levels
Experience of forecasting, managing and reporting on budgets
Experience with events management at a senior level is a plus
An ability to travel to the UK and to international programs as needed.
