Augustana University invites applications for the position of full-time Assistant Vice President for Major Gifts and Planned Giving.
The Assistant Vice President for Major Gifts and Planned Giving is responsible for providing results-driven leadership to increase immediate and long-term philanthropic support of Augustana University. The individual’s primary responsibilities will be to create and execute a major gift and planned giving strategic plan to achieve the philanthropic goals set forth by the University. The selected candidate will provide leadership in prospect development, portfolio management and creation of comprehensive capital campaigns. The Assistant Vice President will lead and supervise the team of major gift officers to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward comprehensive gifts from donors. She/he will manage a portfolio of 150 prospects, to include alumni, parents and friends of the University who have been rated and can be solicited within a one-year timeframe. The individual will participate in making “comprehensive asks” of prospective donors, to include annual unrestricted support, as well as capital, endowment and planned gift support. The Assistant Vice President will work cooperatively with the Advancement leadership team to ensure coordination of all department initiatives. Travel regionally and throughout the United States is required, as well as occasional weekend and evening responsibilities.
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience is required. A master’s degree in business, public administration, management or higher education management is preferred. At least three years of successful experience in fundraising experience including direct solicitation and successful closing of up to seven-figure gifts from individuals. Consideration will be given to solid experience in related field with transferable skills. Interacting with students, faculty and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value of the candidate.
