Associate Vice President for University Development
University of Maryland College Park
The Associate Vice President for University Development (AVP) directs all central and the university’s 17 colleges, schools, and units fundraising programs including major gifts, corporate and foundation relations, annual giving, planned gifts, and regional programs. The AVP plays a pivotal role in planning and executing university-wide fundraising campaigns, and works in partnership with the Vice President for University Relations and in close collaboration with the deans and directors in managing Maryland’s advancement efforts. S/he will establish annual and campaign goals, hold development staff accountable, work with development officers and campus partners to create and execute donor strategies, provide training and mentorship to fundraising staff, as well as maintain a portfolio of high-level prospects. The AVP reports directly to the Vice President of University Relations and serves on the senior leadership team. The AVP will travel locally, nationally and internationally 25% of the time and have the availability to work evenings and weekends as necessary for events, donor meetings and programs.
