Founded in 2012, Liger Learning Center (LLC) educates promising youth of today to develop socially conscious, entrepreneurial leaders of tomorrow. We provide a residential program free of charge to economically disadvantaged students in Cambodia that combines a comprehensive, internationally competitive education with an innovative STEM and entrepreneurship curriculum. The Director of Development is a remote position and will report to the the President of the Board and work directly with the Country Director and the Board of Directors. This position will lead development efforts at Liger Learning Center. A new position in the organization, the Director is responsible for creating and executing the development department and strategy to reach our fundraising goal of $1.5 million in 2018.
Develop and execute the organization’s overall fundraising strategy.
Donor Cultivation and Management
Identify and cultivate a large base of annual individual donors.
Secure financial support from foundations and corporations.
Write and track proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate grants and gifts.
Maintain communication with current and new donors and ensure donors are appropriately thanked and receive regular updates.
Create timely and accurate reports for donors including annual reports.
Implement and maintain a donor management system.
Marketing and Press
Develop digital and print marketing materials related to fundraising.
Serve as liaison with external PR and social media teams to get key LLC stories and initiatives published.
Board and Visitor Engagement
Collaborate with Board of Directors in developing fundraising strategy, identifying individual fundraising targets and providing necessary support to achieve them.
Encourage and coordinate donor and potential donor visits to LLC campus.
Event Planning and Management
Design, coordinate and execute fundraising events including private donor dinners in 2017 and a gala in 2018.
Develop and coordinate donor cultivation events.
Travel twice a year for 2 weeks to Phnom Penh, Cambodia to visit the Liger Learning Center.
Travel twice a year for 1 week to Tuscany, Italy for strategy meetings.
This position will work remotely. While we are accepting all applications, it is preferred that the candidate be in the New York City area or have strong connections to the New York City area.
A passion for the mission of Liger Learning Center.
Minimum 3-5 years experience in development with proven success in development for an emerging non-profit and success fundraising from multiple donor channels.
Ability to work independently.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Flexibility to travel internationally at least 6 weeks a year (see above) and to work outside traditional 9-5 hours.
Understanding of non-profit budgets.
