Emmanuel's advancement program stands at the threshold of a new era. Over the past 15 years, the College has experienced dramatic growth in its enrollment, finances and student programs. At the same time, it has pursued steady and significant growth in its building program, constructing a modern science center in 2009 and an 18-story, apartment-style residence hall set to open in the fall of 2018. Today, as it works to contain tuition costs and offer student financial aid, the College recognizes that a strong and enduring culture of philanthropy is essential to its continued momentum.
To fuel Emmanuel's Catholic educational mission in the 21st century, the College is seeking a transformative leader for its advancement program. The Vice President for Advancement will expand and galvanize the donor base to achieve capital fundraising goals linked to the College's Centennial in 2019. For an entrepreneurial and driven fundraising professional, this is a unique opportunity to create and implement a vision for a dynamic and integrated advancement division, one with the talent and capacity to power Emmanuel's strategic priorities through its 100th anniversary and beyond. Emmanuel's highly active Board, which includes many leaders from within and beyond the Boston community, is committed to increasing its support in honor of the Centennial. The Trustees, along with Emmanuel President Sister Janet Eisner, SND, are committed to empowering the VP with the authority and resources to attract and animate a strong team, to bolster engagement and gifts, and to fully capitalize on the upcoming Centennial, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to assure the College's ability to thrive in a changing and competitive marketplace.
The successful candidate will possess a passion for Emmanuel's mission and values, and a talent for articulating the College's positive impact on individual lives and on a changing society. The VP will also take a strategic, idea-generating, big-picture approach to fundraising and donor relations and translate that vision into effective and timely action. In addition, the VP will demonstrate a collaborative approach to advancement work, superb communication skills and a focus on measurable results. A track record of success in managing and leading an advancement team, the ability to personally excel as a front-line fundraiser (seeking six- and seven-figure gifts), and an openness to travel for donor visits are all essential qualifications for the position. 10 to 15 years' experience in development work is required, along with experience in major gift solicitation and knowledge of marketing. A bachelor's degree is required and an advanced degree in a related field is preferred. Individuals with experience in organizations across the nonprofit sector are encouraged to apply.
