The MIT Alumni Association seeks an associate director to manage a volunteer-based fundraising campaign for an undergraduate major reunion class (25th reunion) and one or more special affinity volunteer fundraising campaign (athletics, student group, anniversary campaigns, etc.).
Daily volunteer management of one major reunion class, including management of those volunteers approaching their major reunion as well as daily volunteer management of affinity campaign volunteers
Leverage best volunteer management practices with best fundraising practices to motivate volunteers and lead successful campaigns that emphasize alumni participation at every level of giving
Collaborate with staff across MIT offices to promote annual and capital giving opportunities among the alumni constituency, with an emphasis on leveraging special occasions like a major reunion to encourage donors to upgrade their support; handle volunteer recruitment, training, and leadership development of major reunion and affinity campaign volunteers
Solicit volunteers for annual leadership gifts as appropriate
Three years of relevant experience, preferably in a contemporary higher education fundraising environment
Experience managing volunteers
Proven success working as member of a team; tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity when dealing with highly confidential information
Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and familiarity with complex databases
Outstanding time management, communication, and organization skills
Attention to detail, and self-motivation
Ability to work well both independently and cooperatively
