Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Alumni Relations and Resource Development (ARRD), the Director of Development manages a regional portfolio and an academic area portfolio. Manages all prospect identification and solicitation activity for prospects in assigned portfolios, including managing engagement of faculty, senior administrators and University officials. Serves as a senior member of the Major Gifts staff. Contributes to meeting and exceeding department revenue goals by directly soliciting gifts and contributing to the overall identification, cultivation and stewardship of prospects and donors.
Manages a total prospect portfolio of 150-200 prospects. Conducts 125 face-to-face visits per year. Undertakes a minimum of 50 travel days per year. Recruits new members for the HKS advisory boards and committees as part of the cultivation and stewardship plans. Will provide strategic guidance and staff support for volunteer committees as assigned.
Manages two junior fundraiser and will manage a shared staff assistant.
Performs other responsibilities upon request, as needed, with or without accommodation.

Bachelors degree required. 10+ years of development or related experience. Demonstrated track record in soliciting and closing six- and seven-figure gifts in a complex environment. Supervisory experience required.
