The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University seek a seasoned development professional to lead efforts in securing external funding and partnerships for their joint Department of Biomedical Engineering. This unique position will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with individuals, corporations and foundations on behalf of this fast growing department. The position will initiate, strengthen and manage strategic relationships with corporate and foundation philanthropic partners and individual donors, closing major and principal gifts and grants of $100,000 and above. This position will plan and implement a program of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major corporate, foundation, and individual prospects. The position will maintain offices in both Raleigh and Chapel Hill. Travel is required.
Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward corporate, foundation and individual prospects on behalf of the joint Department of Biomedical Engineering. Maintain a high level of accountability for activity and dollars raised. Focus on gifts, grants, and endowments of $100,000 or more.
Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of the Biomedical Engineering Department. Work with the department head to engage faculty, administrators and volunteer leadership in major gift and grant approaches.
Coordinate fundraising activities at both UNC-Chapel Hill and NC State. Meet regularly with leadership to set goals, develop strategies, and evaluate progress.
Attend professional development seminars and conferences as appropriate.
Perform other responsibilities as may be assigned by leadership.
Extensive travel is required.
