The American Enterprise Institute seeks an Academic Programs assistant to support the director and manager of Academic Programs in executing a strategic and results-oriented plan to influence the debates over free markets, limited government, and national security on major college campuses across the country.
On behalf of the nation’s premier Washington-based think tank, you will play a central role in transforming campus outreach and elevating the quality of public policy discourse in academia. You will assist in building out networks of highly motivated student leaders and providing support as we bring them to AEI for leadership conferences, policy discussions, and training sessions, so that they return to their campuses energized to be thought leaders in their communities.
The position’s primary responsibilities include: understanding and communicating AEI’s mission and research to students, professors, and administrators; coordinating campus outreach through AEI’s Executive Councils in a specific region; planning and executing Academic Programs events in Washington, DC, and around the country; managing communications platforms and maintaining databases to keep track of AEI’s academic partners; coordinating a summer educational program in Washington, DC; and liaising with AEI’s scholars to facilitate their engagement with colleges and universities.
Successful candidates will be detail-oriented and organized self-starters with strong oral and written skills; familiar with AEI’s scholarship; able to meet deadlines, multitask, and prioritize; and interested in promoting AEI’s research to an academic audience.
A bachelor’s degree is required. One year of work experience and familiarity with think tanks, student programs, and the academic community are preferred.
