Capital University Law School has an immediate opening for the Director of Development. This position is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gifts for Capital University Law School. This position will partner with the Law School Dean, faculty, administrators and colleagues on the Bexley campus including the Advancement staff to plan and execute fund raising campaigns.
Participates in expanding major gift prospect lists through personal visits, reviews research materials, and participates in collaborative discussions with other major gift officers and members of staff.
Manages a portfolio of assigned Law School prospects, develops and executes strategies for cultivation and solicitation.
Brings gifts to closure to assure appropriate stewardship; utilizes the reporting system and prospect management system to evaluate and monitor activity and progress on assigned projects.
Provides guidance and support to volunteers engaged in Law School major gift activity and recruits new Law School volunteers as necessary.
Attends and participate in Law School events.
Reports to both the Dean of the Law School and the AVP for Development.
Must have a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. JD degree preferred but not required.
Motor vehicle license is required.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to work closely and professionally with others as part of a team; Ability to work well with men and women from diverse backgrounds.
Attention to detail; work without supervisor and demonstrate considerable initiative.
Manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills.
