The University of Massachusetts Amherst has an opening for a Development Researcher and is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join its Development. The ideal candidate will be well versed in the field of principal and major gift research and strategy development.
Under the supervision of the Director of Central Research Services, the Development Researcher compiles research on known and potential individual, foundation and corporate prospects to meet ongoing development needs and identify prospective major donors; collects, analyzes and conveys relevant information via biographical sketches, prospect profiles, summaries and briefings and ensures that relevant information is recorded in CS Advance database.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferably in Liberal Arts, Library Science, Marketing or a related field; 2 years' experience in development/prospect research; strong written and oral communication skills; excellent organizational and analytical abilities; strong computer skills, including proficiency with MicroSoft Office; working knowledge and experience with research databases and electronic data sources; ability to work independently and collaboratively with co-workers and colleagues; must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality; must demonstrate creativity and resourcefulness. Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with general business terminology, financial descriptions; an understanding of and ability to interpret corporate annual reports, proxies, and SEC filings; knowledge of different search techniques; familiarity with relevant ethics policies (APRA Ethics Statement); development/prospect research experience in higher education.
Hiring salary range: $38,000-$47,600; Normal starting salary range: $38,000-$42,800.
