The Advancement Research Department at the University of Dayton provides prospect development services to the Advancement Division for various fundraising areas such as Leadership Annual, Major, Principal, Corporate, Foundation and Planned Giving to identify and enhance fundraising and relationship building opportunities and activities, with a particular focus on providing strategic intelligence.
The Prospect Research Coordinator position is responsible for supporting UD’s fundraising programs to meet the campus fundraising goals and objectives. Under limited supervision, the incumbent provides proactive prospect identification, customized prospect research, portfolio development and moves/prospect management.
We are seeking candidates with direct or applicable/transferable skills. We will consider applicants who can show a demonstrated willingness to learn the profession and a commitment to the Prospect Research field, even though they are new to the profession.
Reporting to the Director of Prospect Research, the Prospect Research Coordinator has direct impact on the gift revenue and relationship building capabilities of the university. The incumbent is sensitive to the confidential nature of the work and employs a wide variety of prospecting methodologies and executes reliable and timely quantitative and qualitative data and trend analysis to expand the Leadership Annual and Major Giving prospect pools. This position researches and transforms wealth assessment, financial, legal, philanthropic and biographical information into actionable analysis that is used to build effective and successful strategies with donors.
Additionally, the incumbent will participate in peer review of work to ensure deliverables are accurate and adhere to the team’s style guide and templates, as well as monitor prospects via news alerts, vendor databases and push technology – sharing relevant updates with team members and colleagues. The position will follow and communicate existing policies to fundraising staff, contribute to the development of new protocols and advocate for use of the fundraising system as the database of record. This position will assist in orienting new fundraisers, including in the use of the fundraising database. This position actively participates in Relationship Management teams as well as serves as a trusted advisor, Prospect Research contact and partner for multiple fundraisers.
