Wage: $26.62 - $33.79 per hour
One permanent ½ time position available
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00AM – 1:00PM
Under minimal direction and in collaboration with Senior Center staff, develops and implements a successful fundraising campaign for the Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center. Implements, evaluates and refines as necessary a comprehensive fundraising program that incorporates all available technology. Works with The Center staff, board members of Friends of The Center, volunteers and Iowa City leaders to identify and develop plans to raise funds to address priority needs that assure the short-term and long-term viability of The Center. Maintains and manages a donor database to assure accurate, complete and accessible demographic and giving information. Produces comprehensive quarterly reports of fundraising activities and accomplishments to the Senior Center Coordinator. Manages all donations using appropriate accounting practices. Recruits, trains and manages volunteers to assist with fundraising for The Friends of The Center. With volunteers and staff: 1) plans and implements an annual giving program that raises increasing amounts of revenue through mail, email, social media and/or telephone each year; 2) plans and implements an endowment giving program; 3) develops and implements a major donor program that includes plans for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewardship of prospective major donors; 4) plans and implements an innovative method for regular communication with donors, friends and perspective donors; and 5) identifies, cultivates and solicits corporate support for The Center’s priorities. Researches and writes grants to support The Center’s priorities. Integrates the marketing and fundraising plan into the daily operation of The Center. Liaisons with fundraising and marketing consultants as appropriate. Represents The Center in the community. Supports community outreach and volunteer opportunities through creative partnerships with area businesses and organizations. Assists with budget preparation by estimating expenditures and tracking expenses. Helps plan and carry out emergency procedures. Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and community. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Minimum education, experience and certification
Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, public relations, marketing, sales or social work from an educational institution accredited by a DOE recognized accreditation body, or more than five years of related experience required. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two to three years of fundraising experience preferred. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication and computer skills required. Certification in CPR and the use of an external automated defibrillator preferred. Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record required. Must be 18 years of age per Iowa Code 92.8. Must pass criminal background check.
