SUMMARY: With supervision, manages the grant proposal process.
Prepares grant proposals.
Performs research by becoming familiar with MSB’s programs, goals and financial needs.
Identifies potential funding sources.
Keeps careful records to track proposals.
Responsible for reviewing & editing all written communication for the Development department.
Works with Development team on other Development functions.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: 37 1/2 daytime hours, Monday through Friday 8:30 – 5:00 with a daily one hour unpaid lunch; flextime within the work day and work week is frequently required to accommodate off hour activities, and additional hours during the work week are occasionally required. This is a 12 month position.
Knowledge, skills and general abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, or a similar major.
Minimum 3 years of experience.
Comprehensive knowledge of written and verbal communication techniques.
General knowledge of the principles and practices of fund raising.
General knowledge of the community and its resources.
Experience working with Federal and/or State agency grant approvals preferred.
Located in the northeast corner of Baltimore, The Maryland School for the Blind (MSB) is a private, statewide resource center providing outreach, school and residential programs to children and youth from infancy to age 21 who are blind or visually impaired including those with multiple disabilities.
