The Office of Development at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for the Development Officer for the Division of Student Engagement and Enrollment Services (full-time, 12 month) position. This position will serve as the Development Officer (DO) for the division of Student Engagement and Enrollment Services (SEES). This position will be responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of diverse group of prospects – parents, alumni, and friends of Old Dominion University – to raise scholarship and program funds to support student success. The DO will formulate and implement a development plan, to complement the strategic plans of the Office of Student Engagement and Enrollment Services, the Office of University Advancement, and the University, to maximize philanthropic support to the organization.
Required Education: Master’s degree OR bachelor’s degree with experience and/or training that equates to a master’s degree.
Required Qualifications: Demonstrated experience with parent relations, annual giving, and event program management. Several years of experience working as a development officer or several years of fundraising experience in program management. Experience in managing a portfolio of prospects with a proven track record in securing deals and or gifts. Experience working in a higher education environment or non-profit organization in a fundraising position. Demonstrated successful track record in fundraising to include experience in personal fundraising solicitations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills. Strong computer skills, which includes desktop software and databases.
Preferred Qualifications: Some experience working as a major gifts officer or considerable corporate sales experience with program management. Sales or marketing experience.
