PDK International is looking for a Development Manager to work closely with the Senior Director of Development and Engagement in achieving an aggressive annual fundraising goal. The Development Manager’s role is essential to maintaining and growing the pipeline of annual, major and principal level donors to the organization. This position will report directly to the Senior Director of Development and Engagement.
The Development Manager must be very comfortable communicating to current and prospective donors and PDK Association members regarding the organization’s various philanthropic opportunities. They must also be creative, entrepreneurial and detail-oriented as this position offers many opportunities to have ownership over key development opportunities from design to execution.
Manages donor communications and engagement activities including but not limited to: stewardship and acknowledgement of gifts, development of quarterly donor engagement newsletter, drafting of quarterly written appeals, compilation of donor packets for use by CEO and senior staff, development of annual report content and direct solicitation of event sponsorships and annual-level gifts.
Manages the PDK Educational Foundation Scholarship Program which includes updating the online application, conducting outreach to PDK Association Chapters, recruiting and managing the volunteer readers, answering questions from applicants, collecting award recipient information, communicating with scholarship donors and coordinating with finance on check distribution.
Conducts research on prospective funders (individual, corporate and foundation) and prepares briefings ahead of key funder meetings.
Assists in development-related data management activities including the development of reports from the organizational database (ie: donor reports, mailing lists and call lists) and completing development-specific database updates (ie: contact notes and uploading of gift agreements).
Completes special projects and other duties as assigned related to development and engagement including but not limited to: assisting the Senior Director of Development and Engagement with the management of Board committees, providing event support and maintaining PDK’s charitable state filings.
Bachelor’s Degree required
Minimum 3-5 years experience working in non-profit development and/or sales and marketing
Proficiency using Microsoft Office
Experience using CRM databases
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Flexible and comfortable in a fast-paced environment with excellent follow-through
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team effort
