Community Legal Aid, Inc. (CLA), the program providing free civil legal services to the low-income and elderly residents of central and western Massachusetts, seeks a Development Director who will have primary responsibility for planning and leading fundraising efforts in support of the vision, mission and goals of CLA. CLA is a $9 million organization with approximately 90 staff across multiple offices.
The Development Director will be a member of CLA's management team and will supervise a development associate. S/he will coordinate the program's existing fundraising campaigns targeted at attorneys; develop and implement plans to raise funds from outside the legal profession; cultivate funding prospects including individual gifts and corporate and foundation support; design and implement special events; and develop a strategy for planned giving. S/he may also help identify federal, state and local grants, occasionally assist in writing grant proposals, and help with the development of marketing materials. The Development Director will make periodic reports to CLA's Board of Directors and will work with the Board's Development Subcommittee on refining short- and long-range development plans.
The Development Director will be based in CLA's office in Worcester, Springfield or Northampton, and will travel regularly to the program's other offices in central and western Massachusetts to meet with donor prospects, board members, and other stakeholders as needed.

Minimum of an undergraduate degree and evidence of significant resource development experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
Demonstrated success in building and implementing comprehensive development programs, including cultivating and managing relationships with multiple donor sources.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and strong organizational skills.
