The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation's largest animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Director of Prospect Management for the Major Gifs department. The primary purpose of this position is to lead the collection, interpretation, and documentation of data on current and prospective donors for research briefings and updates.
This position will be responsible for:
Collecting, interpreting, documenting, and summarizing descriptive, analytical and evaluative data on prospective donors in support of qualifying the top prospects;
Establishing procedures and strategies for the procurement of data using various management methods including database searches and monitoring news sources;
Conducting and analyzing research via journals, estate and tax records, business records and other sources;
Presenting information to others via reports, summaries, abstract formats and via graphic representations as needed;
Advising team members about the research results on donor intelligence results;
Conducting quarterly portfolio reviews to maintain optimal portfolio composition and to review new and emerging major gift prospects; will also be responsible for identifying new donor prospects and suggesting approach strategies;
Collaborating with other philanthropy staff on the design, implementation, and ongoing execution of new or updated prospect and portfolio management and predictive modeling processes to support the growth of major gift fundraising.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience;
Minimum of four years of related research experience required; must have solid understanding of the donor cultivation process from identification, to qualification, cultivation, solicitation, to stewardship;
Proficiency in data modeling/donor CRM tools and software;
Prior supervisory experience required;
Highly knowledgeable and proficient in use of research tools and highly effective in a technology based environment;
Ability to formulate productive partnerships with the staff at all levels;
Ability to analyze data then summarize and to support prospect development;
Ability to research and analyze corporations and foundations and match an organizations priority to HSUS programs and initiatives.
