The Jewish Association on Aging, a dynamic continuum of care organization located in Pittsburgh, is seeking a seasoned fund raiser to be a central member of our vibrant and innovative team of committed development professionals. The Major Gifts Officer will identify, cultivate and solicit new donor prospects capable of contributing major gifts ($10,000+), as well as steward and manage relationships with current donors in support of the organization’s capital campaign. Working collaboratively with professional and volunteer leaders, this position will help build a robust portfolio of current and future donors in support of our innovative community-wide strategic plan.
I. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Effectively cultivates, solicits and stewards a portfolio of 75-100 major gift prospects ($10,000+) in support of identified campaign objectives.
Tracks monthly fund raising progress toward goal achievement and ensures the preparation and distribution of informative reports on progress toward goals, prospect strategies and prospect contacts.
Assists with the implementation of a comprehensive strategy for the appropriate acknowledgment of donors and stewardship of gifts.
Assists with the implementation of an appropriate system to effectively encourage and facilitate volunteer participation in the development effort.
Fields inquiries regarding funding opportunities and ensures proper and timely follow-up.
Actively participates as a member of the Development team to ensure the achievement of overall goals.
Establishes cooperative working relationships with development and other staff members to increase understanding and support of development efforts.
Ensures confidentiality of departmental information.
Assists with other projects as assigned.
II. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
3-5 years experience in development with a proven track record of success in cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects/donors.
Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated understanding of prospect and volunteer management.
