Job Summary: CONNECTICUT COLLEGE, is conducting a national search for a highly motivated, skilled and flexible professional to develop, implement and direct a strategic communications plan to support and advance fundraising and alumni relations. Reporting to the Vice President for Communications, this varied and exciting professional position is an opportunity to articulate and implement a cohesive vision for messaging, branding, communications and marketing of all Advancement programs. The successful candidate will be a highly skilled communicator who understands the higher education landscape and relates well to individuals from all cultural backgrounds.
General Duties & Responsibilities: The Director of Advancement Communications will be responsible for designing and implementing an integrated marketing and fundraising communications strategy; facilitate communications and information sharing across departments, bringing the College Advancement perspective to broader College-wide communications; write and edit a wide variety of advancement-related pieces, such as correspondence, proposals, fundraising, marketing, and campaign communications; foster strategic collaboration and coordination among College Advancement programs; work closely with the Office of Communications to project manage and produce College Advancement communications of the highest quality and strategic value and to ensure that they reflect the College's key messages and branding.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and five years progressively responsible experience in marketing, branding and communications required; master's degree preferred. Candidate must have exceptional written and oral communications skills and a proven track record of creating effective fundraising communications. Prior experience in higher education is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will be familiar with evolving communications technologies, including electronic marketing and social media and have experience implementing and integrating new media. The ability to work effectively, collaboratively and with flexibility within a complex environment is necessary, as is ability to interact with people from all aspects of the college and community.
