This position will have primary responsibility to raise philanthropic support for the College of Education and Human Services. Responsible for building, managing and providing strategic direction for a fundraising program that will align with priorities set forth by the Dean of the College of Education & Human Services.
Prospect qualification: Identifies and tracks new prospects to college portfolio.
Substantiates giving capacity, identifies philanthropic interest and executes any next steps.
Prospect cultivation: initiates face to face meetings with donors and prospective donors with the intention of engaging them with university and advancing a conversation about philanthropic support.
Prospect solicitation: drives the strategic planning for prospect solicitations. Serves as an active participant in annual planned major gifts asks.
Prospect stewardship: develops and implements, in conjunction with the Office of Donor Relations, an annual stewardship plan focused on specific initiatives for acknowledgment, recognition and reporting.
Prospect management: builds, maintains and serves as the primary prospect manager for a portfolio of 80-100 major gift prospects. Maintain prospect and donor contact information in the university’s fundraising data base (Raiser’s Edge).
Directs the college/units development planning process and provides leadership within a comprehensive development program for the unit; Advises and counsels Dean, department chairs and other academic leadership on development activities for the college. Recruits, trains and manages Deans Development Council of volunteers. Performs other fundraising duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President of Development & Alumni Relations.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and five or more years of related experience are required.
Experience with comprehensive fundraising campaign preferred.
A strong track record of previous successful major gift solicitations ($25,000+) in higher education is preferred.
A working knowledge of Microsoft Windows application is required and knowledge of Raiser’s Edge is a plus.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently are also required.
