The Director of Development, Cleveland serves as a vital member of the University Advancement Development team as the lead fundraiser in the Cleveland, Ohio Market from an office based in Cleveland, OH. The Director of Development, Cleveland, OH will liaison directly with the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (HCOM) and University Advancement, providing direct support to the Chief External Relations Officer of HCOM as the content expert on Cleveland Ohio initiatives. The successful candidate will serve as a major gifts officer on behalf of Ohio University specializing in health related fundraising through the identification of potential major-gift donors; identify and engage regional development markets; initiate first alumni contact for the dean, faculty and other administrators; maintain development travel schedules; coordinate with annual fund campaign and gift stewardship activities with donor relations; coordinate strategic development events; the development of a major gifts pipeline to build a qualified prospect base for the college/unit; serve as liaison between the faculty, staff, students and potential supporters as well as liaison among the Office of the Vice President for Advancement.
Essential Functions: 1. Identify constituents that may provide private support to Ohio University while acting as fundraiser/strategist/advisor for assigned academic unit(s) 50% 2. Work collaboratively with the annual and major giving as needed to verify, cultivate and solicit constituents for major gifts 20% 3. Plan, implement and coordinate cultivation activities for prospects and donors. Initiate, develop and coordinate delivery of proposals to prospective supporters. 15% 4. Interface with the external relations agents to coordinate activities involving alumni in the pursuit of identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gift prospects. 15%
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university required.
At least three (3) years of fundraising or sales experience in identifying, cultivating and soliciting constituents or demonstrable experience in securing major gifts for non-profits.
