Job Description
Reporting to the President, this position is responsible for the direction and success of advancement functions for the school including fundraising, stewardship development; and alumnae relations. The position has significant influence over and access to marketing communications resources. This position is responsible for the development of long-term advancement strategy; annual development plans; and shares responsibility for the development of an annual communications plan. The Director of Advancement leads the implementation of strategy for fundraising and resource growth; an innovative program to actively engage Notre Dame San Jose alumnae and the community with the school.

Role Qualifications • Must execute advancement plan to ensure the long-term health and vitality of the institution. • Must partner with Notre Dame Community to ensure effective planning and implementation of goodwill and fundraising events. • Must graciously respect and honor donors’ goodwill (and limitations) to ensure long-term donor relations. • Provides leadership to the school community in relationship and network development. • Comfortable serving in an external role to the broader community on key issues. Able to establish partnerships with people from other organizations. • Excellent supervisory skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Plans and executes a coordinated strategy for fundraising of both operating and capital revenues. Oversees the implementation of the program through cultivation activities, direct individual solicitations, donor stewardship, and outreach to appropriate constituencies.

• Works with parent volunteers to accomplish goals.

• Researches foundations, corporations and individuals, keeping abreast of the latest giving patterns and organizational changes in foundations and corporations.

• Supervises Alumnae Relations in establishing the mission and goals of Alumnae association and the planning and execution of alumnae programs. Oversee the strategic planning, budgeting of alumnae programs and services and alumnae communications.

• Supervises all Advancement events in accordance with established revenue projections and budgets.

• Works closely with the Director of Communication to develop a strategy to elevate Notre Dame’s profile with its constituencies, the media and the general public. Ensures consistent and cohesive branding. Provides direction to the Director of Communication so she can plan and implement an evaluation of the communications program including the publication of the school website, newsletter and any other promotions.

• Establish performance standards and priorities for team and motivate team to ensure achievement of Advancement goals. Provide development opportunities for staff. Prepare and conduct performance reviews and maintain department job descriptions

Faith Community Affairs: • Supports the mission of the school and the Hallmarks of a Notre Dame de Namur Learning Community as outlined in the Notre Dame Employment Guide. • Upholds and models a moral code which is consistent with the mission of the school.

Academic Affairs: • Keeps abreast of academic policies, practices and student achievements as a means to build pride and support. Participates in both councils related to academic programs.

Student Affairs: • Attends school events and remains aware of school accomplishments and challenges.

Liaisons: • Creates and maintains positive working relationships with internal and external contacts.

Requirements
Education and Experience 1. Bachelor’s degree. 2. Five plus years of successful professional experience in fundraising. 3. Experience in fundraising within a range of socioeconomic donors.

Knowledge and Abilities 1. Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others. 2. Ability to think ahead and plan over a one to two year time span. 3. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
