The School of Nursing is seeking an Associate Director of Development. This position will report directly to the Associate Dean for Development and Alumni relations and will support the fundraising effort, generally focusing on gift solicitations and external communications. Serves in the stead of the Associate Dean in his / her absence as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Works with the Associate Dean for development and alumni relations to implement a fundraising strategy for alumni, foundations and corporations.
Identifies, cultivates relationships with, and solicits corporations, foundations, and individuals capable of donating a major gift to the School of Nursing.
Meets with School of Nursing faculty to develop the case for private support.
May oversee the creation and release of fundraising publications and other communications. Participates in the planning of donor events as appropriate.
Provides regular reports on the progress of major gift fundraising and status of other development projects.
May supervise one or more employees in support positions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in related field.
3 years of exempt level development experience.
Previous work in major gifts category preferred
Successful candidate will have proven track record with face- to- face solicitation and experience writing corporate/foundation proposals. Credit history review may be required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of best practices in the field. Ability to ask for donations, using both persistence and tact.
Ability to write proposals for the consideration of individuals as well as corporate and foundation grants/proposals.
Strategic and analytical thinking skills with an ability to solve problems and make decisions.
Ability to network and interact, as well as support effective partnerships with faculty, staff, alumni and representatives from corporations and foundations.
Ability to prioritize ongoing and new projects and to meet deadlines.
Ability to represent the School of Nursing and its role in the community to a diverse pool of constituents.
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as exemplary interpersonal skills.
Ability to use good judgment and discretion handling confidential donor information.
Ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities with flexibility and focus.
Knowledge of current computer systems, and relevant software packages.
Ability and willingness to travel, primarily in the mid-Atlantic region.
Salary Range: Commensurate with education and experience
